Episode 1: Hana and Ayesha from Care 4 Womxn discussed their experiences and some of the challenges they've faced as young women of color tackling period poverty with their non-profit organization, as well as some struggles they've dealt with being young female leaders in all areas of their lives! Go listen!
Episode 2: Mariah from Quaranteens Mag discusses the story and evolution of her magazine and some of the struggles she has dealt with in bringing her creative vision to life. Leadership, especially in the arts, as a woman can be incredibly difficult, but she has lots of wisdom to impart. Check it out!
Episode 5: Kaitlin, the CEO of Encouraging Women Across All Borders, talks to me about her work so far. She was a Physics major, and will be pursuing her PhD at Oxford this Fall, and she's seen firsthand the lack of support and resources for women in STEM fields and higher education. Her NPO, which started as a mentorship program and has since expanded, is dedicated to providing the support that she lacked. She has lots of wisdom to share, so be sure to give this episode a listen.
Episode 8: Isha, founder of the Green Sleep Project, talks to Neha about her sustainability efforts. In building her organization, she's been in many scenarios where her mission and organization were doubted because of her age and gender. Check out her organization to see how you can convert plastic bags into sleeping mats for the homeless!
Episode 9: Neha talks with Hiya, founder of Fundraising for the Girl Child in Saudi Arabia, about her incredible organization, the influence of women like Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Michelle Obama, and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and making an impact from whatever means you have. It was a lovely conversation, so make sure to check it out!
Episode 10: Neha chats with Selin, Turkey's youngest UN Ambassador at 17 years old. For the UN, she champions He For She, spreading the movement to different high schools. She has also founded Girl Up Istanbul and Girls Who Code in Turkey, and she hold many other positions such as a member of the Girl Rising task force in Turkey. We had a great discussion about youth activism, so make sure to listen!
Episode 11: Neha and Somya have a conversation about intersectionality and its history in the feminist movement. Feminism has been historically exclusionary, and while the movement has made progress, it is still exclusionary at times. Marketable and "trendy" aspects of feminism play a major role in this. Episode 13: Neha talked with Aanya, an art student in Pakistan who founded an international art gallery called virtuART, about art as a vessel for social change. Art is powerful. Art makes you vulnerable. And art makes people think. Listen to hear about youth artists making a difference in the Black Lives Matter and gender equality movement.
Episode 14: Rania is a 17 year old Girl Up Ambassador from Morocco who has founded her city's first soccer club for girls. She coaches girls of many ages and helps them achieve their dreams. She had lots to share about her experience as the only girl on her school's team and how it inspired her to found AFFC (loosely translates to Female Football Club). She was a blast to chat with, so make sure to listen!
Episode 15: This episode is a little different. With Election Day approaching, the pandemic spiking, and the world seemingly spiraling, we are all scared for the future in some way. Episode 18: Tushar Tyagi is a Bollywood film director. His interest in telling stories and presenting life as an art proved to be a turning point in his decision to pursue this career. He is the Director of Behind a Woman's Eyes and The Betrayal, and many other incredible films. He is also the Assistant Director of Mr. X and Dishoom. He has won awards for Best Screenplay at the Indian Cine Film Festival, and Best Cinematography at the Universal Film Festival. He had much to say about gender roles and feminism in the film industry, and he was a pleasure to talk with. Make sure to listen! |
