Ways to Get Involved
|
As of right now, in person conferences have been postponed indefinitely. However, platforms such as Zoom are a great way to hold a conference! Features such as breakout rooms offer opportunities for discussion.
Below is a list of steps for holding a conference at your school and spreading the message, including tips for interviews and inviting speakers. Scroll down further for access to some shorter activities, sorted by age group. Get in contact if you have suggestions or ideas, or if you would like to use the materials! Visit the Podcast page if you are interested in getting involved with that initiative, and get in touch for any inquiries or project proposals! If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the contact box beside this message. Good luck and I can't wait to see what you accomplish! Basic Steps for Holding a LeadHERship Conference
1. Set a date! Find one where most people will be available (avoid SAT/ACT dates, school vacations, holidays, etc)
2. Reserve a space near you (preferably with a projector)
3. Reach out to me and I will share my materials with you
4. Find people willing to help you moderate the conference discussions and take pictures
5. Send out invitations (WITH RSVPs!!!) and spread the word
6. Contact possible guest speakers (they can be anyone who you feel would add to the learning experience)
7. Run through the material with all of your "staff" a few weeks before
8. Hold your conference!
9. Contact me and tell me how it went :)
Feel free to send me questions at any point!
Tips!
- email many possible guest speakers - most of them probably won't be available on your day!
- spread the word at school and ask club leaders to invite their whole clubs
- allot at least 4 hours for your conference in order to get through all the material
